Clinical Trials

Patient having Blood Pressure takenA clinical trial is a research study in human volunteers to answer specific health questions. Carefully conducted investigational trials are the fastest and safest way to find treatments that work in people and ways to improve health. Interventional trials determine whether experimental treatments or new ways of using known therapies are safe and effective under controlled environments. Observational trials address health issues in large groups of people or populations in natural settings.

Cancer Prevention with Weight Loss
Endometrial cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women in the United States and obesity greatly increases a woman's risk of developing endometrial cancer. However, substantial weight loss has been demonstrated to reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. The purpose of this study is to see whether the dramatic weight loss achieved through bariatric surgery among overweight premenopausal women will reverse the development of endometrial cancer, and to learn the details of how obesity permits the development of endometrial cancer.
