Dr. Robert F. PorgesDr. Robert F. Porges
Robert F. Porges, M.D. is the Director of the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. Dr. Porges attended Dartmouth College and received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Health Science Center in Brooklyn, NY. His internship and residency training was at the Beth Israel Hospital in New York, Mount Sinai Hospital ,and Jacobi Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY.

He served for 2 years as a staff Obstetrician and Gynecologist in the United States Air Force at the Wilford Hall Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Returning to New York City he joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York University School of Medicine, rising progressively to the rank of full professor. His experience as an obstetrician and oncologist eventually gave way to his primary interest in reconstructive pelvic surgery, including the medical and surgical treatment of urinary incontinence, vaginal and uterine prolapse, injuries and congential malformations of the birth canal, and cosmetic, functional and sexual repair of labia and vagina.

Dr. Porges is a member of the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), and former President of the New York Obstetrical Society, and in 2003 was named Distinguished Surgeon by the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. You can learn more at www.DrPorges.com.

 

Dr. Scott W. SmilenDr. Scott W. Smilen
Dr. Smilen is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, NYU School of Medicine, is the Associate Director of the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. He also serves as the Residency Program Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship training in Urogynecology at NYU Medical Center. He is an active member of the American Urogynecologic Society, the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Smilen has presented his research at various national and international conferences, published peer-reviewed work and written expert opinion for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in the area of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. He specializes in non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical approaches to the treatment of overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, vaginal tightening, labial contouring and pelvic organ prolapse.
