Dr. Miriam Cremer Discusses Teens' Understanding of Emergency Contraception Labels
April 01, 2009
In a study of more than 1,000 teenage girls, researchers found that they are able to understand information on emergency-contraception labels as well as adults. Researchers say the new findings add support to claims that emergency contraceptives like the FDA-approved Plan B should be made available over-the-counter as it is for adults. "I believe the potential implications of our study are to help the FDA decide to make Plan B available over-the-counter without an age restriction," lead researcher Dr. Miriam Cremer, of NYU Langone Medical Center, told Reuters Health.
