NYU researchers are looking into the future of the relationship between science and politics as President Barack Obama lifts the Bush administration's limits on federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research. "The most immediate effect is a lot of excitement in the research community and a lot of hope that a more positive attitude will be established toward this research field," said Dr. Chris Hansis, a stem cell researcher and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the NYU School of Medicine.
