Clerkship Grading

Students will be graded as follows:

  • 25% Clerkship Director
    • 80% of the director's grade is based on clinical knowledge: knowledge, physical examination, history and interviewing skills, write ups, oral presentation, clinical problem solving, procedural and manual skills
    • 20% on professionalism: demonstrates sincere concern for the welfare of others, listens to and communicates effectively with patients, listens/communicates/works effectively and cooperatively with fellow professionals (i.e., staff, resident, attendings, etc.), is truthful with self, patients, peers and professional work, takes responsibility for own actions, performs assigned duties and tasks reliably and in a timely manner, performs independently within own ability, seeks help and accepts feedback appropriately
    • Failure to hand in your direct obersvation cards, clinic attendance sheets, failure to complete your patient and procedure logs in E*Value and more than 2 absences for case presentations, M&M conferences and grand rounds will negatively affect your final grade
  • 25% Preceptor
    • 80% of the preceptor's grade is based on clinical knowledge: knowledge, physical examination, history and interviewing skills, write ups, oral presentation, clinical problem solving, procedural and manual skills
    • 20% on professionalism: demonstrates sincere concern for the welfare of others, listens to and communicates effectively with patients, listens/communicates/works effectively and cooperatively with fellow professionals (i.e., staff, resident, attendings, etc.), is truthful with self, patients, peers and professional work, takes responsibility for own actions, performs assigned duties and tasks reliably and in a timely manner, performs independently within own ability, seeks help and accepts feedback appropriately
  • 20% Shelf Exam
  • 20% Resident Evaluation based on same criteria for clinical knowledge and professionalism
  • 10% Oral Exam
