Overview
The purpose of this elective is to introduce the student to clinical and lab research in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology including: Reproductive Science, General Obstetrics, General Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynecology, Ultrasound and Epidemiology that should ultimately lead to publication of a paper or formal presentation of the research project at a national meeting.  Participation in benchwork laboratory research, as well as clinical trials and retrospective studies are available.  Experience will be gained in research design and methodology, laboratory techniques (if applicable), data collection and statistical testing.  The students work directly with Research Nurses, fellows in Maternal-Fetal Medicine or Urogynecology or academic faculty members in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.  Every effort will be made to match the student's interest with an appropriate faculty member in his/her subspecialty.
